Amish Drop Sugar Cookies

Last weekend my husband had the guests of his best friend’s bachelor party meet at our house before heading out for the evening. Happy hostess that I am, I just had to make them something to nosh on!

I had plans to do something elaborate, but once we were 2 hours away from party time, I came to grips with the fact that a simple cookie would be just as well received as anything else I could come up with.

I was SO close to going with chocolate chip cookies. Luckily for you guys, I came to my senses at the last minute and decided to make these wonderful sugar cookies.
Amish Drop Sugar Cookies

I was shocked by how much everyone loved this recipe. The cookies have cream of tartar in them so they have that classic sugar cookie flavor, but they’re also nice and soft, so basically, they’re perfect. And I make a lot of cookies. Like, a LOT. So, if I say a cookie is perfect, I mean it!

I also simply adore how these look! The dough only spreads slightly, so the cookies don’t completely lose their domed tops, which I think looks just lovely.
